HOTELS

There is the usual range of hotels in and around the town.  Although we can't specifically recommend one, we can tell you where previous teams have stayed:
bulletThe Peveril Hotel is a family-run hotel, rated 1 crown by the English Heritage Board, is less than half a minutes walk from the High Street and all the town's main amenities.
Phone: 01206 574001
bulletThe Scheregate, rated 1 crown by the English Heritage Board, is situated on the south side of town, but less than a minutes walk to the town centre and the High Street.
Phone: 01206 573034
bulletThe Balkerne Gate is a Travel Inn on the edge of town.  Check the Travel Inn website for details.

There are of course many other hotels that may accommodate rugby tours.  An Internet search will give you plenty of ideas.

YOUTH HOSTELS

There is only one Youth Hostel within easy reach of Colchester.  The Castle Hedingham Hostel is about 10 miles north west of Colchester in a quiet village.  More information is on the Youth Hostels Association website.

CARAVAN PARKS

Static caravan parks offer cheap accommodation, often with entertainment and bars on-site, and is recommended for youth tours.  Most caravan parks are around Clacton-on-Sea,  25 minutes or less from Colchester and the rugby club.  You will need to book up early as caravan parks are very popular.  Here are a few to consider:

bulletValley Farm Caravan Park, Clacton - Two swimming pools, bar, restaurant, night club.  Not far from the beach and Clacton Pier. Website
bulletHighfield Holiday Park, Clacton - Swimming pool with water chute, 18-hole golf course, fast food, cabaret, amusement arcade.  Website
bulletNaze Marine, Walton on the Naze - Swimming pool, amusements, cafe, cabaret.  Website
bulletCoopers Beach Holiday Park, Mersea island - Mersea Island is 10 miles south of Colchester, and is only accessible by a causeway.  Coopers Beach has a swimming pool, and a multi sports area, and is right by the sea front. Website

An Internet Search will bring up lots of other caravan parks in the area.

CAMPING

Camping is the cheapest option.  Teams have camped at the rugby club and you are welcome to do so, or you could search for a local camp site.
