COLCHESTER
RUGBY |
COLTS FESTIVAL
BACKGROUND
The Colchester Colts Festival had been long established as one of
the premier Colts tournaments in the country, with past Festivals
attracting teams from all over the UK as well as from Holland,
France, Belgium, Argentina and Canada. From 1991 the winners were presented with the Scott Daughtery Memorial Trophy in
memory of the Colchester youth player who tragically lost his
life in a road accident.
Traditionally, the Festival was held over two days on Easter Saturday and Sunday, but fewer and fewer clubs were prepared to make make a weekend trip so after a small one day festival in 2002 it has been put hold on until further notice.
