Some of these Directions are taken from the Eastern Counties Handbook, and some have been written after personally visiting the grounds. All directions are from Colchester. Road layouts change from time to time, so if you get lost, it ain't my fault!

Clubs are in alphabetical order, except for Colchester which is top of the list.
DIRECTIONS TO COLCHESTER RUGBY CLUB
From the M25 take the A12 exit (Junction 28). After 40 miles take the exit for Colchester North A1232 (this is the 3rd exit signposted Colchester).
From the Midlands take the A14 eastbound then the A12 southbound at Ipswich. Take the first exit for Colchester A1232.
Go towards the town centre. Turn right at the first lights by car dealership into Severalls Lane. Go over a mini roundabout then turn left at the next roundabout into Mill Road. Go over one more roundabout and the Rugby Club entrance is 50m on the right.
Bancroft
RFC
Take the A12 towards Brentwood and the M25 Northbound then the M11 towards
London. At the M11/A406 "Waterworks" Junction take the 104 to Woodford
Green, and then turn right into Broadmead Road by the Castle Public House.
At the second set of lights turn left and follow through for one mile.
The ground is on the right before the railway bridge (Buckhurst Way).
Barking
RFC
Take the A12 towards Brentwood then the M25 Towards Dartford. At Junction
31 take the A13 Westbound towards Dagenham and London. Go past the Ford
Motor Works and take the fourth exit off the next roundabout back onto the opposite
side of the A13 dual carriageway. The clubhouse is half a mile on the
left hand side.
Bedford
Come up the A1 and take the second roundabout exit for Bedford. Known as
the "Black Cat Roundabout". Its the one with the Little Chef and across the
road on the right McDonalds. Go along that road (about 7-10 miles I guess), through Great Barford WATCH
YOUR SPEED! until you come to a roundabout.
Its the first roundabout you come to along that road. Left will
take you down the new by pass, right will take you in to town. Take the right.
After about 0.5 miles, you will then come to another roundabout. MFI will be
on the right. Take this right. This will take you through an industrial estate.
Go straight over a roundabout in the middle of the industrial estate. Keep going
past the cemetery on the right. You will come to another round about. Go straight
over. This is Wentworth drive. About 0.5 mile on the right is the club
Bishops
Stortford RFC
Take the A120 towards Stansted Airport. Keep on the A120 beyond the Airport
and over the M11 until you get to a roundabout with a Tesco's by it. Turn left
taking the A1250 towards Bishops Stortford. The ground is about half a mile
on the left.
Braintree
RFC
Take the A12 towards London. At Marks Tey take the A120 towards Braintree.
Turn left at the first roundabout approaching Braintree. At the next roundabout
take the fourth exit signposted Braintree. Turn right after about 500yds into
Beckers Green Road. Braintree Rugby Club is at the end of this road.
Brentwood
RFC
Take the A12 towards Brentwood. Leave the A12 at the A1023 to Brentwood/Shenfield.
Follow the A1023 through traffic lights, Eagle & Child Public House, turn
left into Middleton Hall Lane. At the next traffic lights turn left into
Ingrave Road (A128). Afetr 800 yards (over rail bridge, just before Pelican
lights) entrance to ground on right.
Bromley
RFC
Take the A12 towards London and then the M25 over the Queen Elizabeth Bridge.
Take the A21 towards Croydon, then turn left onto the A232 Old Croydon Road.
When you pass a junction with the Keston Mark Public House take the next major
road on the left called Five Elms Road. Bromley Rugby Club is at the end of
this road at the junction with Barnet Wood Road.
Bury
St Edmunds RFC
Take the A12 towards Ipswich and then the A14 towards Bury St Edmunds. Take
the first slip road for Bury St Edmunds and at the roundabout follow the A134
towards the town centre. Follow the same road over the next roundabout after
which you will see a petrol station. The entrance to the rugby ground is on
the right immediately after the petrol station.
Cambridge
RFC
From the M11 turn off at Junction 12 (A603) and head towards Cambridge.
When you enter Cambridge take the first right into Grantchester Road. The ground
is 300 yards on the right.
Campion
RFC
Take the A12 towards Brentwood, and continue past the M25. At the
third set of Traffic Light past Gallows Corner turn left into Mawney Road.
At the end before the T junction turn right into Marks Road. The entrance
to the ground is first on the left.
Cantabrigian
RUFC
Take the A120 towards Stansted Airport and then take the M11 northbound
towards Cambridge. Leave at exit 11 (A1309) to Cambridge, at the second
traffic lights into Long Road (Addenbrookes sign). Just beyond the railway
bridge turn left into Sedley Taylor Road. The very narrow entrance to
the ground is almost immediately on the left between houses.
Canvey
Island RFC
Take the A12 towards Chelmsford and the A130 towards Basildon. When you
get to Canvey go over two roundabouts - Pass Castle View School on left - Take
next left turn - Ground 300yds on left. Club Address: Tewkes Creek, Dovervelt
Road, Canvey Island
Clacton
RFC
Head east out of Colchester and get on the A133 towards Clacton. At the
first roundabout in Clacton take the second exit (signed to Frinton, Walton
and Gt Clacton) into Valley Road. Keep on this road for a couple of miles until
you get to a railway bridge. The ground is on the right after the bridge.
Chelmsford
RFC
Take the A12 towards London. Take the first exit signposted to Chelmsford
and get onto the A138. Take the slip road signposted Springfield and Chelmer
Village. At the roundabout at the bottom take the 4th exit to Chelmsford A1113.
Follow this road over a roundabout. After 400yds turn left after the Plough
public house. Chelmsford Rugby Club is in Coronation Park at the end of the
road on the right.
Cheshunt
RFC
Take the A12 towards London and the M25 towards Watford. Ay Junction
25head north. At the first roundabout take the first exit into Ellis Way,
go straight over the next two roundabouts and take the first left into Andrews
Lane. the club entrance is 200 yards on the left.
Diss
RFC
Take the A12 towards Ipswich, then the A14 towards Bury St Edmunds, then
the A140 towards Norwich. After about 12 miles turn left following the signposts
to Diss. Drive through Diss and out the other side. When you get to Roydon turn
right at the White Hart Pub into Bell Rope Lane. Diss Rugby Club is 50 yards
on the left.
Hadleigh
RUFC
Take the A134 towards Sudbury and then take a right turn towards Hadleigh.
Once in Hadleigh High Street turn into Layham Road (flanked by library and chemist),
over bridge and go on round bends. the ground is on the left.
Harpenden
RFC
Take the A12 towards London, the M25 towards Watford, and the M1 Northbound.
Leave the M1 at Junction 9 then get onto the A5138 towards St Albans.
At the first roundabout turn left onto the B487. About 500 metres up a
steep hill and around a bend turn left into Redbourn Lane and the Rugby Club.
Harwich
& Dovercourt RUFC
Take the A120 towards Harwich. At the Ramsey roundabout take the third
exit, then turn right at the War Memorial into Fronks Road, then the second
right into Hall Lane, then left into Wick Lane and right towards the swimming
pool. the clubhouse is past the pool.
Hertford
RFC
Take the A12 towards London, the M25 Northbound, and the A10 Northbound.
Leave the A10 at the Rush Green Roundabout - signposted Hertford A414 - and
immediately take the first exit - signposted Great Amwell B1502. Hoe Lane is
the first turning on the left approximately 200m from the roundabout. The entrance
to the clubhouse and grounds is approximately 300m from the B1502 on the left
hand side.
Ipswich
RFC
Take the A12 towards Ipswich. At the A14 (Toys R Us) junction carry straight
on towards Ipswich. As you enter the town follow the signs for Woodbridge which
means taking a left turn. Keep on this road (which eventually becomes Valley
Road) over a number of roundabouts. Watch out for a roundabout at the junction
with Tuddenham Road with a cemetery on the right. Go straight on into Colchester
Road, over a railway bridge and bear left towards the Northgate Sports Centre.
Go to the end of the road, turn right and you will see the entrance to Ipswich
Rugby Club on the left.
Ipswich
YM RUFC
Take the A12 towards Ipswich. At the A14 (Toys R Us) junction carry straight
on towards Ipswich. As you enter the town follow the signs for Woodbridge which
means taking a left turn. Keep on this road (which eventually becomes Valley
Road) over a number of roundabouts. Take a right turn at a roundabout towards
Rushmere. Ground is about 1 mile on the right.
Letchworth
Garden City RUFC
Take the A1 northbound and leave at Junction 9. Follow the
sign to Letchworth passing through a long roundabout to a conventional
roundabout at which you turn
right on to the A505 following the sign to Baldock. At
the next roundabout turn right into the North Herts Sports Centre and
immediately turn right again
onto a single track which takes you behind the sports
centre to the Rugby club.
Maldon
RUFC
Take the B1022 Maldon Road from Colchester. Carry on past the Zoo, through
Tiptree and Gt Totham until you get to Heybridge. At the very first roundabout
turn left towards Goldhanger. Grounds is 400 yards on the left past a telephone
box.
Newmarket
From the clock tower in the town centre take the B1063 (Exning Road)
- pass the Hospital on the right and the Sport Centre on the left - Turn left
into Elizabeth Avenue - 100 yards on left turn into Scaltback School - Follow
road to Sports Pavilion.
Old
Edwardians
Take the A12 towards Brentwood and carry on past the M25. At Gallows
Corner (junction of A12 and A127) take the B118 to Romford at roundabout 2nd
exit. Follow to 2nd roundabout take first exit. At 3rd roundabout take
3rd exit into B118 London Road, follow for 2 miles. Ground is on the left
next to St Edwards School.
Rochford
Hundred RFC
Take the A12 towards Chelmsford. On the Chelmsford bypass take the A130
towards Basildon and Southend. Take the A127 towards Southend. At the Bell Public
House filter left into the B1013 Rochford Road. Continue over the roundabout,
bridge and past the station. After 1 mile turn left into Rectory Road and the
ground is on the right before the bridge.
Shelford
Take the A12 towards London. At Marks Tey take the A120 towards Stansted
Airport. When you reach the Stansted Airport Junction take the M11 northbound
towards Cambridge. Leave at Junction 11 taking the A1309 towards Cambridge.
Turn right at the first lights into Shelford Road. The gound entrance is 1 mile
on the right opposite a garden centre.
Southend
RFC
Take the A12 towards London. On the Chelmsford bypass take the A130
then the A127 to Southend. Continue into Southend past The Bell Public
House to a roundabout where you take the second exit into Priory Crescent.
Keep Left over a railway bridge to dual carriageway (Eastern Avenue).
Turn left at the roundabout into Sutton Road, go past the Fire Station and the
Cemetery to a roundabout where you turn left into and Industrial Estate.
Follow the road to the ground at the end.
Southwold
Take the A12 towards Ipswich. At the Ipswich Toys-R-Us roundabout take the
A14 towards Felixstowe then take the A12 towards Lowestoft. Keep on the A12
until you turn right onto the A1095 towards Southwold. As you enter Southwold,
turn right at the Kings Head Pub. The clubhouse is 400 yards on the left opposite
the water tower.
South
Woodham Ferrers RFC
Take the A12 towards Chelmsford. On the Chelmsford bypass take the A130
towards Basildon and Southend. At the Rettendon Turnpike take the A132 to South
Woodham Ferrers. Follow the signs to Saltcoats Industrial Estate. The ground
is on the left after crossing 3 roundabouts.
Stowmarket
Take the A12 towards Ipswich and then the A14 towards Bury St Edmunds.
Take the Stowmarket exit from the A14.
Follow signs to Stowmarket. When in Stowmarket take the third exit off
the first roundabout and go straight over at the traffic lights. At the
second roundabout take the second exit and at the next roundabout take the first
exit. Turn left into Chilton Hall Estate. Stowmarket RUFC is about
half a mile on the right hand side.
Sudbury
RFC
Take the A134 to Sudbury. At the first roundabout approaching Sudbury turn
left into Shawlands Avenue. Follow the road until you see a signpost to Sudbury
RFC; turn right into Head Lane. Follow the road until you see another signpost
to Sudbury RFC; turn left into Rugby Road. The club is at the end.
Thetford
Turn right out of the clubhouse, go to the end of Mill Road and turn right towards
Sudbury. Stay on the A134 through Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds until you get
onto the Thetford bypass (A11). Turn right towards Norwich, then at a roundabout
take the A134 towards Kings Lynn and Mundon. The ground is 1.5 miles at the
bottom of a hill on the right hand side; a semi-concealed entrance almost opposite
Thermalite sign.
Upminster
RFC
Take the A12 towards Brentwood. Stay on the A12 to Gallows Corner
and turn left onto the A127 Southend Arterial Road. Turn off at the Hall
Lane Flyover signed to Upminster. The ground is one mile on the left with
the entrance beside the Golf Club entrance.
Westcliff
RFC
Take the A12 towards London. On the Chelmsford bypass take the A130 towards
Basildon and Southend. At the A127 go east towards Southend. Drive past Rayleigh
and continue towards Southend. When you see a junction with Kent Elms Health
Centre on one corner and a Ford dealership (Perrys?) on another turn left into
Rayleigh Road. After 50 yards where the road bears left, turn right into Snakes
Lane, and at the end continue into Eastwoodbury Lane. At the second roundabout
just before a church turn left into Aviation Way. Follow Aviation Way until
you come to the clubhouse and ground.
Witham
RUFC
Take the A12 towards Chelmsford. Take exit for Witham, follow road
through town centre (Newland Street - Bridge Street). Through 4 sets of lights.
Past Bramston Sports Centre on left. At next set of lights turn right into Spinks
Lane. At T-Junction turn right into Highfield Road. Follow road round to left
. Under railway bridge- then next left.
Woodbridge
RFC
Take the A12 towards Ipswich, then the A14 towards Felixstowe and then the
A12 towards Lowestoft. At the last roundabout on the A12 Ipswich bypass take
the A1152 signed Orford. Follow this road over some traffic lights and a level
crossing. At a roundabout turn left keeping on the A1152 for Orford. Go straight
on at a left fork. The ground is approximately a 1/4 mile on the right.
Woodford
RFC
Take the A12 towards London, then the M25 northbound and then the M11 towards
London. Follow the signs for the North Circular Road A406 westbound (towards
Heathrow). Once you are on the A406 take the first slip road towards Whipps
Cross and Woodford. At the roundabout take the exit towards Epping A104. After
about half a mile, when you see Woodford Green on your right, keep a look out
for a signpost to the left for Woodford RFC. The club is at the end of the track.
Wymondham
RUFC
Take the A134 towards Sudbury. Keep going through Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds
keeping on the A134 to Thetford where you take the A11 towards Norwich. On the
Wymondham by-pass turn left at the Somerfields Supermarket roundabout. Go over
the next roundabout into Tuttles Lane and the ground is 200 yards on the right.
