In this section you will find information and the latest status of the Clubhouse Development Project. It will be updated whenever there is something to report.

A sub committee has been formed to get the ball rolling [Len Nieuwenhuis, Tim Slaven, John Powell] and we have asked Andrew Jones, who was instrumental in  providing professional advice in our last attempt at development in the late 90's, to help us.

It goes without saying that:

Early thinking

Our intention is to have an enhanced clubhouse ready for the start of the 2005-06 season. We need to extend and improve the changing accommodation to enable us to cater better for senior men’s rugby and also juniors and women and to ensure we meet hygiene and CP guidelines. That means more changing rooms, better and more private showering facilities and a weights room.

We would also want to improve our non - playing facilities – more space if possible, improved kitchen and toilet facilities and to ensure that the infrastructure of the Clubhouse is sound.

We have a view that we would want to spend around the £150000 mark – and that:

  1. We will have an improved clubhouse by 05-06

  2. We wont attempt what we cannot afford – if we can fund £150k but it is insufficient to provide all our needs, we will do what is most important [the playing or ‘downstairs ‘bits] and come back to the rest later.

On funding we very much doubt that we will apply for Lottery funding [too restrictive for us and Lottery Funding is getting both very tight and will slow down our process]. So our options are

We will investigate these very thoroughly

Obviously the less we have to borrow the better but the more sustainable income we generate [via sponsorship, membership etc] the better able we will be to make substantial monthly interest payments.
